Stonemasonry is the craft of shaping rough pieces of tock into geometrical shapes that we can use for statues, steps and buildings.
The art of stonemasonry has been well developed over the years and while electrics and motors have made it easier for some tasks to be completed, others still require the careful, steady hand of a skilled stonemason and their tools.
The stone saw is one of those tools. Used to cut rough blocks of limestone and sandstone into cuboids, stone saws are a vital tool for the Were Stonemasonry team.
The stone sawhas to be made from high quality tool steel with saw teeth that run the complete length of the blade to ensure a clean cut. Stone sawa come in different teeth sizes with either 750mm or 900mm long proving to be the most popular.
